🛡️ PowerTV Pulse – Summer 2026

Your streaming update from Max Power

Hey everyone, Max here 👋

Grab a cold drink and get comfortable, because this is one of the biggest updates I've ever sent you. We're launching a brand new app, and it's a genuinely big deal — so let's get right into it.

🛡️ INTRODUCING SHIELD-X

I'm excited to introduce Shield-X — a brand new, completely separate app built just for movies and TV series.

Here's what you need to know:

  • It's optional and separate. Shield-X runs alongside your main Shield app — it doesn't replace anything you already have. Think of it as an add-on for a specific kind of experience.

  • Movies and Series only. No live TV, no sports, no news, no live events — Shield-X is laser-focused on on-demand movies and shows, and it shows in how smooth and polished the experience is.

  • A Netflix-style interface, but with everything. Clean, modern browsing — except instead of being locked to one service's library, Shield-X pulls content from all your sources into one place.

  • Built for how you actually watch. Multiple sources, personalized recommendations, multiple profiles, and favourites lists so everyone in the house gets their own space.

  • Setup is exactly what you're used to. Same install process as our other apps — nothing new to learn.

Pricing:

  • $10/month when bundled with your existing Shield subscription

  • $20/month if you want it standalone

Install code (Downloader app, all Android & Google TV devices):

🏆 AWARDS CORNER

Small world moment: one of the shows in this month's Just Arrived section, Widow's Bay, just picked up 19 Emmy nominations — including Outstanding Comedy Series. Not bad for a show about a cursed New England island. Worth a watch before the ceremony if you want to see what the fuss is about.

🎬 JUST ARRIVED — MOVIES

The Devil Wears Prada 2 — Nearly twenty years later, Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep), Andy (Anne Hathaway), Emily (Emily Blunt) and Nigel (Stanley Tucci) are all back. Andy returns to Runway as its new Features Editor just as the magazine — and Miranda's grip on it — faces a media industry in freefall, and her path crosses with Emily, now a powerful luxury brand exec who might hold Runway's fate in her hands.

Disclosure Day — Steven Spielberg's big summer sci-fi swing. A cybersecurity whistleblower (Josh O'Connor) uncovers the truth about alien contact and goes on the run, teaming up with a meteorologist (Emily Blunt) experiencing strange phenomena of her own, as the truth heads toward seven billion people all at once.

The Breadwinner — Nate Bargatze's first ever leading film role. When his wife (Mandy Moore) lands a life-changing Shark Tank deal that sends her on the road, lifelong breadwinner Nate suddenly finds himself a first-time stay-at-home dad to three young daughters — and in way over his head.

Super Mario Galaxy — Mario, Luigi, Peach and Toad are back, this time joined by Yoshi, on a journey into outer space to rescue Rosalina from Bowser Jr. Bigger, weirder, and more galactic than the first film — a great pick for family movie night.

The Dink — A washed-up tennis pro (Jake Johnson) is desperate to save his father's struggling country club and finally earn his respect. The only way to do it? Break his sacred vow and take up the sport he swore he'd never touch: pickleball.

📺 JUST ARRIVED — SHOWS

Dutton Ranch — The Yellowstone universe keeps growing. Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler (Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser) leave Montana behind for a fresh start on a South Texas ranch — only to collide with a ruthless rival rancher who won't make it easy.

Widow's Bay — A skeptical new mayor (Matthew Rhys) tries to turn a remote, superstition-soaked New England island into the next big tourist destination — ignoring every warning that the island is cursed. Horror-comedy done exceptionally well (see: those 19 Emmy nods above).

The Hawk — Will Ferrell stars as a former golf superstar chasing one final major to complete his career Grand Slam, dragging his ex-wife, his golden-boy son, and everyone else in his orbit into the chaos along the way.

💕 WIFE'S PICK

The Plastic Detox — My wife's pick this month is this eye-opening Netflix documentary following six couples as they strip plastics out of their everyday lives to see what impact it has on their health and fertility. It's the kind of documentary that will have you throwing out your Lululemon gear and swapping out kitchen equipment. Genuinely worth the watch.

💡 TIPS & TRICKS — TIME TO UPGRADE?

With Shield-X's richer, more visual browsing experience, now's a great time to make sure your device can keep up. If you're still running an older box, I'd strongly recommend upgrading to get the most out of everything we're rolling out. My current top picks:

  • Google TV Streamer — Google's latest streaming box, built for smooth 4K HDR playback and fast app switching.

  • Onn 4K Pro (Walmart) — Excellent value option, widely available, and plays nice with everything in our lineup.

Both handle Shield-X beautifully and will make browsing across all your libraries feel instant.

STABILITY UPDATE

Just two minor issues to report this month:

  • There were some issues with one of the PPV events. We do try our best to provide a good experience for these events, but cannot guarentee it will always run smooth. We dropped the ball on this one.

  • July 9, we had an outage for about half a day. This was maintenance related.

As always, if anything ever comes up on our end, you'll hear about it here first.
